Tammy (Shailene Woodley) and her fiancé Richard (Sam Claflin) are both passionate about extreme sports. They are sailing on a yacht, preparing to undertake the grand task of crossing the Pacific Ocean. Unexpectedly, they encounter a hurricane that damages the yacht and leaves Richard seriously injured. With Richard's constant encouragement and support, Tammy decides to pull herself together and use all their outdoor survival knowledge to save themselves. The survival conditions at sea are extremely harsh; they lack food and water, and Richard's injury requires medication. In this urgent situation, Tammy must also navigate the damaged yacht towards land. If they continue to drift along the current, they will end up floating into the empty Pacific Ocean.
