This is a personal autobiographical film about struggle. In 1951, ambitious Ed Wood (played by Johnny Depp) finally gets the opportunity to produce and star in a movie, but this plan soon falls apart. Ed does not lose heart; instead, he continues to seek investors and actors, even bringing his girlfriend into the cast. Each time, just as preparations are well underway, the film contract ultimately falls through, leading to repeated shattered dreams, and his girlfriend leaves him.
