After "Crazy Rich Asians," Hollywood continues to develop Asian-related films and TV series: Sichuan actress Li Kunjuo (from "Peaky Blinders" and "Ripper Street"), who is acting in the UK, will star in the Netflix film "Tigertail" (also the name of a location in the U.S.), with Ma Zhi (from "Arrival") joining the cast. The story comes from co-creator Yang Weirong of "The Master of Doing Nothing," whose parents are from Taiwan. The film tells the story of two generations of Taiwanese immigrants to the United States and their inner connections: A man named Grover was born and raised in Taiwan. After a difficult childhood, he abandons his beloved family and runs to America with a woman named Zhenzhen. There is little emotional connection between Grover and Zhenzhen, but they seek a new life together in the U.S. Later, Grover begins to reflect on his life and choices. He is a stubborn man, and his daughter Angela has grown up to be a stubborn woman as well. Neither father nor daughter realizes how much they resemble each other, but eventually, after regrets and failures, they begin to understand one another. Kunjuo plays the young Zhenzhen, a quiet, polite, and unobtrusive Taiwanese woman who finds it difficult to adjust to life in America with Grover. It isn't until she meets a friend named Peijing that Zhenzhen starts to truly contemplate her independence and self-worth. Grover's daughter Angela becomes emotionally distant from her father but eventually reconnects. Ma Zhi plays the older Grover.
