Herbert (played by Peter Kurth) was once a strong boxer, but now he has retired and makes a living by collecting debts and working as a doorman. Herbert has a student named Eddie (played by Edin Hasanovic), in whom Herbert sees his younger self; he firmly believes that Eddie can make a name for himself in the boxing ring through hard training. One day, Herbert is shocked to learn that he has been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), which means he will gradually lose his ability to care for himself and may spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair. The countdown to his life has begun, and the only one left by his side is his girlfriend, Marina (played by Lina Wendel). Herbert wants to use this last phase of his life to do something truly meaningful.
