Sparks is a completely unsuccessful young performing duo. During an outdoor performance, one of the members, Todoroki (played by Masaki Suda), becomes attracted to the fool duo’s Kamiyama Taizo (played by Kenta Kiritani). Kamiyama also longs for fame; he has a head full of great ideas but always feels out of place in this world. Todoroki admires him and requests to be his disciple. In contrast, Kamiyama proposes that Todoroki write his biography. Over the years, the mentor and disciple bond over their shared aspirations, with their meals and conversations filled with hilarious banter. During this time, the woman living with Kamiyama, Mari (played by Fumino Kimura), chooses to settle down, a junior colleague who debuted not long ago becomes famous, and the partner they have worked hard with for years shows signs of wanting to withdraw. Unbeknownst to them, Todoroki and Kamiyama have devoted their entire lives to the careers they love, all for the fleeting sparkle that remains after the fireworks fade… This film is adapted from the original work by Naoki Matayoshi.
