A boy named Rio (Jake Schur) is forced to traverse the American Southwest in an attempt to rescue his sister Sara (Leila George) from his abusive uncle (Chris Pratt). Meanwhile, the infamous outlaw Billy the Kid (Dane DeHaan) is being pursued by Sheriff Pat Garrett (Ethan Hawke). Rio encounters both men and witnesses the unfolding tale of escape, pursuit, and struggle between Billy and the sheriff, gradually getting drawn into it.
