This film is directed by the renowned French crossover director Vincent Perez. Born in 1964, Perez rose to fame in the 80s and 90s, starring in classic works such as "Fanfan" and "Queen Margot." He showed talent for directing early on, with two of his works shortlisted for the short film category at the Cannes International Film Festival in 1992 and 1999. In 2002, Perez made his feature film debut with "Angel Skin," and in 2007, he directed "The Secret." This film is Perez's largest investment and marks his first entry into the main competition section of an A-list international film festival. The story of "Berlin Solitude" takes place in the 1940s in Berlin. Working-class couple Otto and Anna send their only child to war. Unfortunately, their son dies in the brutal conflict. The couple decides to resist the Nazi regime in their own way. Soon, their actions are discovered, leading to a manhunt and threats from the Gestapo. This WWII film, which reflects a grand theme from a small perspective, features several heavyweight stars. Emma Thompson, the British actress who won the Oscar for Best Actress for "Howard's End," plays a grieving mother; Brendan Gleeson, who was nominated for a Golden Globe for "In Bruges," portrays a strong father. Daniel Brühl, who shone in "Good Bye Lenin" and dazzled Hollywood in "Rush," will share scenes with these two veteran actors.
