Robert (played by Dougray Scott) is a journalist who investigates the background of Josemaria (played by Charlie Cox) to write a special report about him. What Robert did not expect was that Josemaria and his father, Maolo (played by Wes Bentley), were childhood friends who even studied at the same seminary together. The differences in their ideals led this pair of once-solid friends to go their separate ways. The devoutly faithful Josemaria chose to dedicate everything to the Almighty Lord, while Maolo, unable to ignore his nation suffering in misery, resolutely stepped onto the battlefield, and the two lost all contact thereafter. Later, Maolo encounters the beautiful warrior Edik (played by Olga Kurylenko).
