At the edge of a quiet dark forest lies an unknown village, where rumors about werewolves have circulated for a long time. The beautiful young girl Valerie (played by Amanda Seyfried) has come of age to marry, and her family has betrothed her to Henry (played by Max Irons), the son of a wealthy family in the village. However, Valerie's true love is the woodsman Peter (played by Shiloh Fernandez), her childhood friend. To pursue true love, Valerie and Peter decide to elope. Just as they plan to escape, a werewolf appears and kills Valerie's sister. The long-standing grievances of the villagers finally explode in this moment, and they decide to eliminate the werewolf threatening their community. After a brutal fight, the villagers kill a giant wolf in a cave. However, the giant wolf in the cave is not the legendary werewolf; the true werewolf has been hiding among the villagers all along... The film is directed by Catherine Hardwicke, known for "Twilight," with the screenplay adapted by David Johnson, the writer of the thriller "Orphan." The film leaves a strong impression with its rich Gothic style and numerous dark elements.
