The story takes place in the bustling metropolis of West Los Angeles, where a group of "martial arts masters" gather to frequently exchange techniques. Among them is an unassuming man named Mike (played by Chiwetel Ejiofor). Mike is a self-defense instructor with remarkable skills, yet his preference for a low-profile life means he doesn't want to showcase his abilities too much. Mike and his wife Sandra (played by Alice Braga) run a dojo to make a living. Although their business has been steady, the loving couple is very content with their peaceful life. However, an unexpected incident forces Mike into a vortex of conflicts over interests and a heavy burden of debt. To protect his family, Mike must step up and fight for his honor.
