Tom (Bruce Willis 饰) was born into a family of police officers. He and his father Vincent (John Mahoney 饰) not only share the profession of law enforcement but also frequently work together as partners on assignments. In an unfortunate incident, Vincent dies, leaving Tom with profound guilt, deeply entrenched in self-blame and sadness. A series of brutal murders plunges Pittsburgh into panic. Through various investigative leads, Tom insists that the killer is an insider from the police force, which results in his ostracism and demotion within the department. Two years later, a similar murder case occurs again, and Tom, still haunted by the previous case, decides to investigate on his own. As the investigation unfolds, Tom is shocked to discover that the killer is intricately connected to his father's death, and every move he makes seems to be under the control of the murderer.
