This is an Italian film of the new realism genre. The film tells the story of three young men, Francesco, Sergio, and Antonio, who live peacefully in a poor village. As all three are unemployed, they spend their days hanging out and chasing girls. One day, Antonio's aunt invites him to live with her and his cousin in Rome. He accepts her invitation and enters a university in Rome, leaving his two friends behind, who envy his new upscale lifestyle. But ultimately, Antonio returns to the village, initially just for a day. Despite boasting about his life, he never goes back to Rome, choosing instead his friends and the place where he grew up, despite its many flaws.
