Under the military regime in Myanmar, the west, rich in resources, has been coveted by the army for many years. Children there are often forcibly recruited by the military, and the slaughter of civilians has become a form of entertainment for some soldiers... A team of church volunteers seeks to enter the area to provide humanitarian aid to refugees and finds the reclusive Rambo (played by Sylvester Stallone) in Thailand, hoping he can help guide them through the waterways. Rambo believes there is no possibility of change in the current situation and refuses to lead them, but he is eventually moved by the sincerity of volunteer Sarah (played by Julie Benz) and agrees to take them there.
