Simon (played by Jeremy Irons) is a calculating and ruthless terrorist. To execute a grand conspiracy, he first orchestrates an explosion. While the police are under pressure to solve the case, he calls Sheriff John McClane (played by Bruce Willis) and claims that the police must follow a series of his orders, or he will continue to carry out bombings throughout the city. With the help of grocery store owner Zeus (played by Samuel L. Jackson), McClane completes Simon's directives, narrowly escaping death multiple times. However, an unsatisfied Simon orders McClane to defuse a bomb in a city park and claims to have placed a bomb in a local elementary school in New York City. The police and municipal officials are nearly all mobilized to evacuate students from the schools and search for the bombs. McClane gradually grows suspicious of Simon's commands, and he finally uncovers the truth behind Simon's manipulation of the city’s police force...
