Graeme (Simon Pegg) and Clive (Nick Frost) are a pair of geeky friends from the UK, living every day surrounded by alien events, comic stories, and sci-fi ideas. This time, they travel to the U.S. to attend a comic convention and take the opportunity to visit the holy land of alien enthusiasts: Area 51 in Nevada. Unexpectedly, on the way, they encounter a real alien—Paul (voiced by Seth Rogen), who has been trapped on Earth for 60 years and held captive for research at a scientific base, but has finally escaped. Unsurprisingly, Paul looks like E.T. and has fantastic abilities, but to their surprise, Paul is a "hoodlum" alien with a mouth full of American wisecracks and profanity. The three unlikely companions embark on a journey to "help Paul get home," while being pursued relentlessly by Department of Homeland Security agent Zoil (Jason Bateman) and his bumbling partner, who are determined to capture Paul and return him to the research base... This film is a hilarious collaboration between the British comedy duo Simon Pegg and Nick Frost following "Shaun of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz."
