The film is directed by the renowned Coen brothers, and its soundtrack won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year at the 44th Grammy Awards. In the early 1930s, in a prison in the wilds of Mississippi, the talkative and smooth-talking Everett (George Clooney) comes up with various escape plans all day long. After successfully convincing his simple-minded cellmate Delmar (Tim Blake Nelson) and the bold Pete (John Turturro), Everett's escape plan is finally set in motion, as the three criminals dressed in prison uniforms, clanking in handcuffs and leg irons, embark on their journey to freedom. According to Everett, there is a large stash of stolen goods buried by the Mississippi River. During their escape, they must deal with a variety of tricky incidents and outsmart the relentless lawman Cooley, who is determined to capture the three "escaped fish" and send them back to prison. Along the way, they encounter continuous surprises and unexpected situations. Will they truly achieve freedom?
