An endless night seems to envelop a decaying, cold, modern metropolis, with an ominous atmosphere lingering in the air. John Murdoch (played by Rufus Sewell) wakes up in a bathtub of a hotel, with no memory of everything that happened before, even forgetting his identity and name. Mysterious phone calls, cold corpses, and unidentified pursuers leave him disoriented. With the few clues he has, he begins to investigate his identity and the chaotic circumstances surrounding him.
