He gives her the cyborg body he had originally prepared for his deceased daughter and names her Alita (played by Rosa Salazar). Upon awakening, Alita develops a strong interest in this colorful yet violent and brutal world. After meeting a young man named Hugo (played by Keean Johnson), Alita begins to participate in a sport called Motorball and showcases incredible combat skills during the games. Above the residents of Iron City floats the large aerial city of Zalem, and everything the inhabitants of Iron City do is to provide fuel for Zalem to continue operating. In the Motorball games set up by the wealthy tycoon Vector (played by Mahershala Ali), the ultimate champion wins the qualification to live in Zalem. Alita decides to use her fighting talents to compete but becomes embroiled in a massive conspiracy.
