Beautiful girl Christian (Alison Lohman) working for a bank's credit institution has finally seen her career improve after years of hard work; despite opposition from her boyfriend Clay's (Justin Long) mother, their relationship is loving and smooth. However, an unexpected disaster thrusts her life into turmoil. The gypsy old woman Sylvia Ganush (Lorna Raver), living on Breton Street, faces the threat of losing her property due to medical disputes. Christian feels sympathy for her plight but is powerless due to rules. In a fit of rage, Ganush vents her anger on the innocent Christian, leading to a fierce struggle in the garage, during which Ganush casts a cruel curse on her.
