In 1930s Shanghai, film photographer Shen Junchu (played by Leon Lai) deeply loves his girlfriend, broadcaster Xu Manli (played by Fan Bingbing), but due to his introverted personality, he cannot muster the courage to propose. In his frustration, Manli broadcasts a radio play she has written herself. In the drama, photographer Junchu deeply regrets missing Manli's marriage proposal; he buys a ring to meet her, but Manli is killed in a car accident. Junchu continues to live in longing for Manli. Later, another woman, wife Sansan (played by René Liu), appears, but Junchu pays her no mind. Though Sansan loves Junchu, she cannot bring him happiness. Until one day, Sansan sees the lingering spirit of Manli, who teaches her how to approach Junchu to make him happy… The radio drama comes to an end, and Junchu hears Manli's story; he writes a letter proposing to her. Upon receiving the letter, Manli rushes to their meeting place, which is the same spot at Nanjing Road as in the radio drama's story…
