Jeff (Jonathan Tucker) and Amy (Jena Malone), along with Eric (Shawn Ashmore) and Stacey (Laura Ramsey), two couples from the United States, are preparing to enjoy their rare vacation in Mexico. They encounter Matthias (Joe Anderson) from Germany and his Greek friend Dimitri (Dimitri Baveas) by the pool. Matthias is looking for his missing brother and invites Amy and the others to join him. The carefree young people, eager for excitement, readily agree. They rent a car and head to a desolate area in Mexico, where endless horrors are silently closing in on them in the mysterious and ancient ruins... This film is adapted from the novel "The Ruins" by American author Scott Smith.
