Justine (played by Garance Marillier) grows up in a vegetarian family, strictly adhering to dietary restrictions and has never tasted meat. When she enters a veterinary school, she is subjected to relentless bullying and exclusion from upperclassmen as a "rookie." The oppressive hierarchy weighs heavily on Justine, and her relationship with her sister Alexia (played by Ella Rumpf), who also attends the school, becomes strained. Without parental supervision, Justine decides to try meat for the first time. However, as time goes on, she realizes that cooked meat no longer satisfies her, and she develops a craving for raw meat and blood. This increasingly intense desire torments Justine, and Alexia shows no surprise at her sister's unusual behavior. In an accident, Alexia's finger is severed by scissors, and faced with the severed finger, Justine can no longer suppress her inner desires.
