Ma Xuren (played by Tony Leung) specializes in providing merger and acquisition plans for publicly listed companies and is a young and accomplished bachelor; however, he is very stingy and harsh. To take revenge, his girlfriend reports all his credit cards and bank checks as lost. Coincidentally, a public holiday occurs, and the banks are closed, leaving him suddenly broke and a "poor man."
