On a rainy night in 1933, a first-year student at the University of Cambridge, Guy (played by Stuart Townsend), suddenly finds a stunningly beautiful woman, Gilda (played by Charlize Theron), bursting into his dorm room. Kind-hearted, Guy offers her shelter for the night, and the two quickly fall in love. Years later, Gilda becomes a fashion photographer and invites Guy to her luxurious mansion in Paris, where the three enjoy stylish and joyful times together with her model and close friend Mia (played by Penélope Cruz). However, just as Gilda's career reaches its peak, World War II breaks out, and the three friends go their separate ways due to differing opinions on the war; Guy and Mia decide to go to the front lines for support, while Gilda stays behind. After six years of resistance, Guy returns to the Paris he has longed for, only to discover that his beloved Gilda has become a despised mistress of a German officer, unaware that she is actually an underground spy. At this moment, Gilda faces life-and-death challenges; on one hand, her spy identity is about to be exposed, and on the other, the people of Paris are eager to see her punished. Will the fates of these two lovers still intertwine...? This film won the Best Film award at the 2005 Milan International Film Festival.
