On July 21, 2011, 650 young people were at a summer camp on Utøya Island when they received shocking news that a government building in Oslo had been bombed by an armed right-wing extremist, who then arrived on Utøya. The film follows a young girl named Kaja as she endures a suffocating 72-minute struggle for survival after hearing the first gunshot from the extremist. The film is based on true events; the Utøya massacre is the deadliest single-perpetrator shooting incident worldwide since World War II.
