The story takes place in the bustling metropolis of New York City, where Jerry (Cary Grant) and Lucy (Irene Dunne) are a deeply affectionate couple. They often attend high-end soirées hosted by the elite, living a life of luxury. However, as time passes, this seemingly happy marriage reveals cracks, and Jerry and Lucy decide to divorce.
