The film consists of a series of musical segments directed by the master of musical blockbusters, Mark Sandrich. Each of the songs is themed around American holidays and cleverly revolves around a love rivalry. The film received nominations for Best Original Screenplay and Best Music at the 15th Academy Awards in 1943! A roadside inn operated by two young partners, Hardy and Haynes, becomes the backdrop as they both fall in love with the same girl. Haynes (played by famous dancer Fred Astaire) initially has the upper hand in the pursuit of love but ultimately loses to Hardy (played by renowned singer Bing Crosby).
