This film is one of the representative works of director Sun Chung, written by Ni Kuang, and starring Ti Lung, Wang Yu, Ku Feng, and Zhao Yazhi. The story describes how the coach of Hedong Prefecture, Wang Yang (Ti Lung), is framed by local gentry Meng Erda (Ku Feng) and becomes a murder suspect, ultimately hiding and continuing to teach at the Meng family. Later, Wang takes in the talented young man Zhou Ping (Wang Yu) as his apprentice, which displeases Meng; as it turns out, the Zhou and Meng families are sworn enemies. Meng believes hiring Wang as a coach is akin to raising a tiger to trouble him, and thus incites the notorious thief "One Whip" to launch a sneak attack. Fortunately, Wang escapes great danger, though he is injured. A girl named Jia Jia (Zhao Yazhi) living in the Meng house disapproves of Meng's actions and has feelings for Wang, and so she secretly lends a helping hand...
