During the turbulent period at the end of the Ming Dynasty and the beginning of the Qing Dynasty, Gao Baoliang, the lord of Matie Village in Fengrun County, kidnapped Wei Wenzhen, the daughter of the greedy county magistrate Wei Huaiyuan, who was indifferent to the lives of the common people, and took her to the mill, hoping to persuade Wei Huaiyuan to exempt the villagers from taxes. Lu Fang (Wang Yu), the nephew of the border general Lu Xiangsheng, who died fighting against the invading Qing soldiers, passed through Matie Village while trying to break out and saw this situation, deciding to intervene. Wei Huaiyuan promised to waive the taxes but secretly captured Gao Baoliang's daughter to use as a hostage.
After some twists and turns, Lu Fang allied with the righteous warriors Yan Ziqing (Luo Lie) and Huang Liang (Zheng Lei), who were unwilling to be manipulated by Wei Huaiyuan. The three confronted the soldiers sent by Wei Huaiyuan at Matie Village but fell into a trap and were captured. Upon learning of her father's actions, Wei Wenzhen rose against her own kin to rescue the warriors, leading to a fierce battle.
