Renowned director Zhang Che adapted the classic work of Louis Cha into a film, employing a large cast, including Kuo Chui as the key figures in advancing the story, Shi Zhongyu and Shi Zhongjian, Wen Xueer as the female lead Dingdang, Tang Jing as the master of Xuan Su, Shi Qing, Liu Huiling as Min Rou, and Wang Li as "The Celestial Scholar" Xie Yanku. The story tells of Shi Zhongjian, who grew up in the mountains with his adoptive mother Mei Fanggu. One day, he unwittingly picks up the "Xuantie Ling" and learns martial arts from Xie Yanku but is mistaken by the members of the Chang Le gang as the leader Shi Zhongyu; he is then deceived by Dingdang into taking the blame for Shi Zhongyu's crimes at the Xueshan sect. Ultimately, the truth is revealed that Shi Zhongjian is actually the long-lost son of Shi Qing... This film features a tight structure, with a twisting and bizarre plot that portrays both the grudges of the martial world and the feelings of its heroes, demonstrating the extraordinary accomplishments of Louis Cha's works and the seasoned expertise of director Zhang Che. It is a rare gem.
