Gao Jian (played by Yue Wu), a coach at a regular martial arts school in Dengfeng City, Henan, is urgently assigned to teach a group of international students who come to China to learn kung fu. During the classes, Gao Jian faces various conflicts arising from the cultural differences between the East and the West, while also trying to bridge the long-standing gap with his father, Gao Fengshan, the principal of the martial arts school. At the same time, his romance with his ex-girlfriend, English teacher Bai Jie, is also in crisis. After going through a series of setbacks and frustrations, Gao Jian gradually realizes that the essence of Chinese martial arts is the concept of harmony, as taught in Buddhism, which is about being at ease and letting go. He ultimately overcomes his personal flaws and psychological barriers, allowing the international students to fully understand the profound realm of Chinese kung fu. Meanwhile, he also regains warm family ties and sweet love.
