Mr. Hulot (played by Jacques Tati) comes from the countryside to stay briefly at his sister’s (played by Adrienne Servantie) home in Paris. He is extremely uncomfortable with the various modern appliances in his sister's house and often finds himself in a fluster. Fortunately, his little nephew Gérard likes his uncle and enjoys playing with him; Gérard is not fond of the modern equipment at home either, so Hulot takes him to play in their old house in the suburbs. Hulot’s brother-in-law, Mr. Alberte (played by Jean-Pierre Zola), helps Hulot find a job at his factory, but Hulot also struggles to adapt to the modern machinery, causing many mishaps and creating a number of comical situations. His brother-in-law, unable to tolerate it any longer, decides to recommend another job to send him away, while Hulot happily bids farewell to his little nephew, thinking he has ended an unusual holiday... This film is the second part of Jacques Tati's "Mr. Hulot Trilogy."
