The massive multinational bank IBBC, which has nearly monopolized the globe, is practically omnipotent in this society dominated by money and power. It not only controls the economies of various countries and constrains government decision-making but also participates in various criminal activities such as money laundering, arms trafficking, extortion, and kidnapping. It resembles a giant octopus extending its tentacles into every corner of the night. International Interpol agent Louis Salinger (played by Clive Owen) witnesses his colleague being assassinated for attempting to leak bank secrets. Determined to uncover the money laundering内幕 of IBBC, he is dispatched to Berlin, aided by fellow justice-seeker Deputy Prosecutor Eleanor Whitman (played by Naomi Watts). The two soon discover even more unknown illegal activities of the multinational bank, including financing terrorists and waging wars. They are determined to expose the true nature of the multinational bank; however, the all-knowing IBBC has already noticed these two ants and sends assassins after them. Will Louis and Eleanor be able to win this life-and-death struggle against overwhelming odds?
