The blonde girl Andula (played by Hana Brejchová) is a young woman working in a shoemaking factory in a small town in the Czech Republic. Like her peers, she longs for a romantic and perfect love, but in this town with a severely imbalanced gender ratio, her wish seems somewhat distant. The local youth Tonda (played by Antonín Blazejovský) launches a romantic pursuit, but he is unable to win Andula’s heart. One day, a chance encounter with the young pianist Milda (played by Vladimír Pucholt), who is wandering through the town, opens Andula’s heart at the right moment, and they spend a night of romantic passion together. From then on, Andula cannot forget Milda and decides to set off for Prague to find her lover. She seeks genuine love, while Milda considers it merely a fleeting romance... This film won the Best European Film Award at the Bodil Awards in Denmark in 1967 and the Best Foreign Language Film Director Award at the Jussi Awards in Finland in 1967.
