The protagonist, David Dunn (played by Bruce Willis), has gained superpowers and has become a vigilante. With the help of his son Joseph, David starts to track down Kevin Wendell Crumb (played by James McAvoy), who has 24 distinct personalities, among which the "Beast" is the most powerful due to its evolved fighting abilities. After saving a college student kidnapped by Kevin, both David and his son are controlled by Dr. Staple. Also captured at Dr. Staple's research facility is Mr. Glass—Elijah (played by Samuel L. Meanwhile, Mr. Glass, Elijah, meticulously orchestrates a scheme, inciting Kevin and David to publicly fight so that it can be recorded as evidence, thereby achieving his goal of proving to the world that superheroes do exist.
