German renowned director Wim Wenders was deeply captivated by Pina Bausch, the "first lady of German modern dance," when he first watched her perform in "Café Müller." He and Pina quickly became close friends, leading to the idea of collaborating on a film. After careful consideration, Wenders decided to use 3D technology to present Pina's passionate and creative modern dance art, attempting to open a new and unique visual journey for the audience. However, shortly after the film project was announced in 2009, Pina Bausch passed away from lung cancer, and the entire filming plan was put on hold. It wasn’t until discussions with the Wuppertal Dance Theater, which Pina had led in her lifetime, that Wenders decided to restart the film project. This film intertwines several of Pina's dance works, including "Café Müller," "The Rite of Spring," and "The Rite of Spring," with reminiscences from her students and friends, while also showcasing the industrial landscape of the city of Wuppertal, providing a three-dimensional interpretation of Pina's unique and wondrous dance aesthetics, leaving a beautiful ode to her.
