"All's Right With The World" features several families that, if it were a soap opera, would definitely be interconnected by drama. The tragic fates they describe are so ambiguously similar that it makes viewers wonder who is related to whom and what connections exist between them. The only connection is that all five families receive "Comprehensive Social Security Assistance," yet each story unfolds in different directions. Their reasons for poverty may differ, as do their circumstances, but ultimately, they all develop into remarkably similar living conditions, a convergence of paths, characterized by a habitual acceptance and adaptation to poverty. The film intersperses scenes from the Lunar New Year, presenting both indistinguishable similarities and differences with typical Chinese New Year celebrations. The film explores the hidden face of poverty in one of the world's most affluent and capitalistic cities. Directed by CHEUNG King Wai (KJ: Music and Life), the film follows five Hong Kong families from different backgrounds that receive government subsidies. How do the poor get by in a glossy city that flaunts conspicuous consumption and hides poverty in cavernous public housing estates? All's Right With The World shares the different stories of these low-income families, their daily living conditions, and their ways of celebrating Chinese New Year.
