In July 2014, Ryuichi Sakamoto was diagnosed with throat cancer, leading him to halt his work. A year later, he returned to create music for the films "Living with My Mother" and "The Revenant." He fought against illness and drew inspiration from nature, flourishing in the fields of media art and cinema. On November 28, 2015, WOWOW broadcasted the documentary "Ryuichi Sakamoto's 700 Days," which mainly documented the professor's process of creating background music for "If You Live with My Mother" and "The Revenant" after his recovery (music, art, and life).
