The eccentric former movie projectionist Hao Feiyu (Jia Hongsheng) uses a telescope to target a woman and tricks her into the projection room, but he does not rape or rob her, only taking out his privately kept silver ringed snake. Several women die from the snake's bite, prompting the Public Security Bureau to form a special investigation team for the "Silver Snake Murder Case," led by detective Wen Yinghua (Zhang Jingsheng) and Lao Zhou (Han Tingqi).
One day, while Hao Feiyu is searching for prey with his telescope, he inadvertently discovers photographer Kong Xiangxiong (Zhu Xiaoming) taking covert photos of a bank. He quietly sneaks into Kong's photo studio to steal a few pictures and secretly plots. A few days later, the bank is indeed robbed, and he discovers from the photos that Qiao Meihuan (Gao Baobao), who is having an affair with the bank manager Shi Hengshan (Zang Jingsheng), is actually the girlfriend of the robbery mastermind Zhong Dazhong (Wang Jiancheng) and decides to extort her.
Hao Feiyu discreetly sends a tape to Qiao Meihuan, threatening her to deliver a large sum of money to the stadium, alarming Zhong Dazhong. Believing the extortionist to be Shi Hengshan, Zhong Dazhong sends thugs to chase him. While avoiding them, Hao Feiyu seizes the opportunity to take Qiao Meihuan away, but soon the police discover her body. The "robbery case" becomes intertwined with the "Silver Snake case."
