The film tells the story of Lu Moshān, a prop master of Sichuan opera during the Republic of China era, who goes to prison for taking the blame for the deputy director in a production. After being released, he disguises himself as "Meng Shanghai" and becomes a prop master at his daughter's school, initially intending to quietly protect her. However, his daughter is murdered by several students at the school, who falsely accuse Lu Moshān of the crime. Upon his release from prison, Lu Moshān resumes his identity and returns to his daughter's former school to take revenge on the culprits.
