Paz and Simon are a couple living in a small town with Simon's daughter. Simon is a coach for a women's soccer team. By chance, Simon's daughter discovers that a religious ritual is taking place while she is playing soccer. She approaches and takes an object, but soon after, the daughter mysteriously goes missing. Simon and Paz are very worried about their daughter's safety, and they search for information, especially Simon who is particularly anxious. In an effort to find their daughter, Paz prays for her while seeking the help of a medium. Through contact with Simon, the medium begins to see some visions: a man being killed by two others, a little girl hiding under a bed, an inverted cross, and a red curtain covering a body. Simon is shocked and terrified by these descriptions, and he impatiently reaches out to his mother, whom he hasn't contacted in a long time, hoping she can help gather information. Paz's cousin works at the police station, and although he knows the FBI has taken over the case, he is still willing to help. Thus, Simon and his cousin go to the bustling red-light district. While they are talking to the officer in charge of that area, a prostitute recognizes Simon but calls him Robert. Simon insists that she has mistaken him for someone else, and the prostitute then writes a line on a napkin inviting him to speak privately. That night, Simon goes to the agreed location, only to find that the prostitute has been murdered.
