In Zhongshan, Guangdong Province, the wealthy Ge Dafu and his troublesome friend Wang Ba start arguing as soon as they meet. Their noisy antics not only affect the martial arts schools they operate, Jingwushhe and Wushengtang, but also get passed down to their sons, Ge Changshou (played by Zeng Zhiwei) and Wang Xingming (played by Ni Xing). Both Changshou and Axing are in love with their childhood friend Xiuxiu (played by Huang Xiuling). Axing is handsome and shares mutual affection with Xiuxiu, while Changshou is described as lewd, arrogant, and lazy, failing to gain Xiuxiu's favor.
When Changshou was born, a Taoist priest (played by Lin Zhengying) predicted that he would not live past twenty-three, with his death coming on a full moon night.
