Jello (played by Max Minghella) is an art-loving youth determined to become a famous painter. However, upon finally entering art school, he realizes that reality is far from his expectations. In professional classes, diligent Jello is not the teacher's favorite student; instead, the seemingly clueless Jonah (played by Matt Keeslar) earns the teacher's approval. To make matters worse, Jello's crush, the model for his figure drawing class, Audrey (played by Sophia Myles), seems to have feelings for Jonah. A bloody serial murder case unfolds at the school, but it is not on Jello's radar. With the annual evaluations approaching, students who create outstanding works can win a chance for a solo exhibition at a famous gallery. Frustrated by repeated rejections, Jello resorts to stealing the work of down-and-out painter Jimmy (played by Jim Broadbent). Unexpectedly, Jimmy's artwork makes Jello a target for the police, and Jonah's undercover identity is soon revealed.
