For three hundred years, a red violin has wandered through various countries, entwined with the fates of many people. It seems to possess a certain spell that drives people to become crazily infatuated with it.The maker of the violin is a master instrument maker from 17th century Italy (Carlo Cecchi portrayed). Overwhelmed by grief after the death of his wife and child, he paints his beloved's blood onto the violin, after which it travels to Austria. A young boy, obsessed with this violin, practices until he collapses on stage. The violin's journey has never ceased, passing from grave robbers to Gypsies, to the composer Pop, who committed suicide over it, and finally to a music teacher in Shanghai during the Cultural Revolution. Throughout this period, regardless of whether the owners understand the true value of the violin, they cannot escape its magic. Ultimately, an expert discerns the secret of the violin—it is stained with the blood and tears of a master from three centuries ago.
