During a gathering among friends, Mr. Law (played by Zhang Zhaohui), a director and real estate developer, hears about a case of child murder from Inspector Lin Miaocui (played by Zhang Wencui) of the Hong Kong Island West Major Crimes Unit: an 11-year-old girl was beaten to death by her biological mother Li Biqi (played by Tang Ning), and during the police investigation, it was discovered that the girl had been sexually abused for a long time. Li Biqi readily confessed to the crime of the manslaughter of her daughter but claimed to be unaware of the sexual abuse perpetrated by her cohabiting boyfriend, Cao Yongqiang (played by Peng Jingci). Police Assistant Commissioner Wang Ruifang (played by Shao Meiqi) appeared at the Western District Police Station and personally interrogated the suspect Li Biqi. Li Biqi denied allowing her boyfriend to sexually abuse her daughter, and Wang Ruifang and several subordinates inflicted various tortures on Li Biqi in the interrogation room, but she persistently refused to yield.
