In 1638, due to famine and oppression against Catholics, Japan experienced the Shimabara Rebellion. The Tokugawa shogunate sent an army of 120,000 to suppress the rebellion, significantly defeating the Shimabara forces led by Amakusa Shirō Tenshō (played by Yōsuke Nakaizumi). Famous for his sorcery, Amakusa caused chaos in the shogunate's ranks before his demise. Years later, during a hunt, Tokugawa Ieyasu's third son, the uncle of the current shogun, and known as the Dragon of the South Sea, Tokugawa Yoshinobu encountered the resurrected Amakusa and his maid (played by Kumiko Aso). Amakusa encouraged Yoshinobu to seize power and demonstrated the sorcery of reincarnation using women's bodies as mediums to bring the dead back to life. Amakusa collected women as vessels for the reincarnation spell, dragging the Yagyu clan into the matter, leading to a fierce battle between Yagyu Jūbei (played by Hōshi Satō) and the resurrected former ally Araki Yasuemon. Amakusa then lured masters like Hōzōin Inshun, Yagyu Tadamasa, and Miyamoto Musashi into the demon realm, engaging in a series of fierce battles with Yagyu Jūbei…
