In every city, 9 out of 100 people suffer from mental distress. Psychiatrist Gao Jing (played by Li Xin Jie) prioritizes her patients' health in her work and is well-liked by her colleagues. In a bookstore, she brushes past a man who buys the photography book she wanted, leaving her with a strange feeling. Xiao Kai (played by Liang Lu Shi) is a patient of Gao Jing. After returning from a holiday, he invites her to a photography exhibition, where Gao Jing unexpectedly discovers that the photographs feature her diving. Even more unexpectedly, the photographer is the man she met in the bookstore, who is also Xiao Kai's brother — archaeologist Chen Guo Dong (played by Guo Xiao Dong). Guo Dong gives Gao Jing the book he bought that day, and they fall in love. To propose to Gao Jing, Guo Dong takes her and Xiao Kai to the island of Na Guo, diving deep underwater to retrieve a hidden diamond ring. However, an accident befalls Guo Dong, and they only recover a headless male corpse. Gao Jing is so grief-stricken that she loses all memory of the incident, and Xiao Kai's attitude toward her becomes unusually cold. Seeking help, Gao Jing asks the director (played by Liang Jia Hui) to hypnotize her, but after the hypnosis, she experiences even more hallucinations.
