Wesley (played by Powers Boothe) is an agent currently investigating a vicious serial murder case known as "The Hand of God." A mysterious man named Fenton (played by Matthew McConaughey) approaches Wesley, claiming he knows the ins and outs of the case. Shockingly, if Fenton is to be believed, the killer is none other than Fenton's brother Adam (played by Jeremy Sumpter), who has already committed suicide. Wesley follows Fenton to Adam's grave, where Fenton recounts the past he shared with Adam. It turns out, all the events originated with the brothers' father, Meeks (played by Bill Paxton), who told his sons he had encountered an angel that gave him a list of demons disguised as humans, and his task was to kill them one by one. Adam believed their father, while Fenton sensed the madness behind it, leading their fates to diverge onto completely different paths.
