The story takes place after the September 18 Incident, when the iron hooves of the Japanese army trample upon the peaceful and beautiful grasslands. They collude with the ruling Prince of Brook to jointly oppress the herders living on the same land. Che Ling (played by Bayin) is a member of the grassland knights, a group filled with justice and responsibility, resisting the invasion and abuse of the Japanese army through their actions. In an accident, Garason, the captain of the royal guard, shoots and injures Che Ling. Realizing his guilt, he is overcome with remorse for his previous actions and can only atone with his death. Zhuola (played by Dong Ling), Garason's kind-hearted wife, saves the severely injured Che Ling, but what awaits her is her husband's cold corpse. At first, Zhuola believes that Che Ling killed Garason, but when the misunderstanding is cleared up, Che Ling's bravery and integrity make her fall in love with him.
