Gang leader Eddie King orchestrates a murder, witnessed by a young passerby, Sean Jones (played by Nathan Phillips). To successfully convict this notorious mob boss in court, the police assign seasoned federal agent Neville Flynn (played by Samuel L. Jackson) to protect Sean and escort him from Hawaii to a Los Angeles courtroom. To prevent the witness from being killed, Neville employs a diversionary strategy, secretly boarding a regular red-eye flight with Sean. However, this top-secret plan is leaked to Eddie through a mole in the police force.
